Smoot Carter

Smoot Carter grew up on a horse farm in Winchester, Virginia. An accomplished athlete, Smoot competed for Louisiana State University in the decathlon and now is an Olympic Weightlifter. Prior to LSU, he attended Woodberry Forest School, an all-boys college preparatory boarding school near Charlottesville, VA. The Founder of the LSU Visionary Institute and the Roosevelt Institution @ LSU, he is very passionate about educating students about local and national issues of public policy. Smoot served as the first LSU Presidential Fellow for the Center of the Study of the Presidency in 2006 and interns for Congressman Bobby Jindal. He is a double-major in Political Science and Finance at Louisiana State University.
