Maria Cecire

Advisory Council

Maria Cecire is on the Advisory Board of College Outreach and is currently studying at Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship. Her passion stems from education as she served as a docent, Educational Advisory Board member, and education research intern at the University of Chicago’s Smart Museum of Art, where she teaches inner-city elementary schoolers how to think and speak critically about art. During her time as president of the University of Chicago’s student filmmaking organization, she received a major university arts grant to shoot a documentary in Zambia about the work of math and science teachers which was screened at two major conferences for teachers and physicists. Maria’s interest in children, education, and the arts has inspired her undergraduate thesis on “medievalisms in children’s fantasy literature,” a topic continues to study at Oxford.
